An oxygen concentrator first draws air through a filter system to remove microorganisms and dust. The purified air is compressed and nitrogen contained in it is separated by a filter membrane or molecular sieve. As a rule, oxygen is enriched by the pressure swing adsorption process, increasing its content to about 96%. In the next step, the filter system is regenerated by driving out the adhering nitrogen. To achieve a continuous gas flow, many systems operate with multiple modules that alternately filter and regenerate.
This unit is intended for home oxygen therapy. It is powered by mains electricity and provides a continuous supply of oxygen, even during sleep.
